sea

well, the beach at Scheveningen (the Hague) to be more precise, the sea is behind you but in front of my in laws and my daughter Jansje...
about 1915

Look at the booths! Are they for changing or shade? Is the weather hot in those clothes?

i think those booth were typically Dutch, they were still used in the 1970's (my granddaughter whispers)..
they were for sun- and windshade..
we were used to wearing those clothes... and then they were visiting, not at home...

younger people would swim yes but not such *old* people..

Is there a reason for this? Did they think wrinkles infected the water? Was it prudence or prunes that stopped 'old' people from wave frolicking? Were there waves? Am I asking too many questions?
