from left, my wife Jans, my daughter in law Rie, my son Jo, my daughters Stien, Jansje (who went missing after ww2) i (said the fool) and my youngest daughter Marietje...

happiness and sorrow...

in 1916 Jans and i were happy we could announce the birth of a son, who was named after me: Christiaan Jacobus. this photo was made about a year later, July 1, 1917.

on July 17 1917, today exactly 90 years ago, Christiaan Jacobus died....

before we went to the Dutch East Indies, we (my parents of course) had some photos made..
here i am, six years old, with my father, mother, baby sister Margaretha and younger brother Jacobus... could hardly stand still, i would have loved to take a closer look what that man, called "photographer" was doing...

..for not much later, november 30 1913, my second daughter Jansje Paulina was born! :-)

Jansje and I got married

on July 3, 1913, we were rather in a hurry for less than 5 months later..........

back to the Netherlands

in the early 1890's we moved back to the Netherlands. in 1894 my father died, age 40, far too young..
i fell in love with Jane Thomasson, we married in may 1903, and had two children, a girl, Hermanna (Manna) and a boy Gezinus Johannes (Jo)
Jane died in 1906 at the very young age of 23..
