in 1916 Jans and i were happy we could announce the birth of a son, who was named after me: Christiaan Jacobus. this photo was made about a year later, July 1, 1917.
on July 17 1917, today exactly 90 years ago, Christiaan Jacobus died....

It's just wonderful the way this blog brings a different time and place and the people who lived there alive, along with the triumphs and tragedies of their lives.
