1882

before we went to the Dutch East Indies, we (my parents of course) had some photos made..
here i am, six years old, with my father, mother, baby sister Margaretha and younger brother Jacobus... could hardly stand still, i would have loved to take a closer look what that man, called "photographer" was doing...

Hello Christiaan! You don't look too impressed in having to stand still :)

hello, dear!
that's been a long time ago we spoke, isn't it?

yes, it was hard to stand still, but i was a man, and men had to do that.. of course my mother and my little brother and sister were allowed to sit... :-)

Had to scroll down to get the complete story. Wonderful, Christian! My grandfather's name was Johann Christian Twisselmann, whose father Claus sailed around the South American horn to California in the 1870s.

Great photos!

@twisselman: your grandfather came from Germany? and "sailed round the South American horn", that tickles my fantasy..! my grandfather sailed to America - and back..
oh, and as a child to the Dutch East Indies - and back... i wonder how much this has been of influence to our lifes, a few generations later... i believe strongly in inherited memories...

@trudette: dank je! :-)
